Weāre thrilled to have hosted the USAID Teach for Tomorrow Executive Study Tour on September 12, 2024! š This event brought together 10 exceptional Egyptian primary school principals and representatives from the Egyptian Ministry of Education. These principals are the top graduates of their leadership academy, similar to leadership programs we have here in Georgia.
Sponsored by the Education Development Center (EDC) and the Mary Frances Early College of Education at UGA, the tour provided participants with valuable insights into how Georgia school districts, including Morgan County, approach education across urban, suburban, and rural contexts. š
During their visit, we proudly showcased our elementary school, career academy, and district-wide school improvement strategies. The group also enjoyed a delicious southern lunch prepared by our talented culinary students, led by Eddie Tolbert, and experienced our School Improvement Leadership Team in action!
It was an incredible opportunity to share our practices and strengthen international connections. š

Today, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation. As we mark this anniversary, let us pay tribute to the lives lost and the heroes who emerged in the face of unimaginable adversity.

In light of the tragic shooting at Apalachee High School, Morgan County Charter Schools would like to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to student and staff safety. Superintendent Virgil Cole has issued a letter to parents outlining the extensive safety measures in place across our district, which include partnerships with local law enforcement, on-campus School Resource Officers, advanced security technologies, mental health resources, and a dedicated Safety Coordinator.
While there are no specific threats to our schools, we will have an increased law enforcement presence as a precautionary measure. We ask for the continued support of our community in fostering a safe environment and encourage all to join us in prayer for the Barrow community and our own.
Respectfully,
Morgan County Charter Schools

Our hearts are deeply saddened by the news of the tragic school shooting today at Apalachee High School. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, and the entire Apalachee High School community. We stand in solidarity with Barrow County Schools during this incredibly difficult time.
