Another exciting day for children who've saved their Dog Bones for following their PAWS and spent them on various incentives.

Students in Mrs. Haynes', Mrs. Duvall's, and Mrs. Kiepper's classes adopted calves through the National Dairy Farmers Association this year. They learned about cows, dairy farms, and milk. What a surprise to learn that the cows we adopted were located at Big Sandy Creek Dairy here in Morgan County!
Farmer Katelin Benkoski brought Cocoa, Skittles, and Raindrop to visit. Students got to ask her questions, learn more, and even pet their cow! 🐄

1st grade students voted on a name & the results were graphed for them to view. Lily is growing, and the students enjoy stopping by to watch the metamorphosis from tadpole to frog!

1st grade students participated in garden centers during STEM this month. The garden centers included: soil preparation, planting, spreading pine straw; reading about plants and garden animals; drawing plants or animals in the school garden; and playing a vegetable/plant part matching game. Kindergarteners sorted seeds to create art. MCHS Students' from Mrs. Dowd's 9th grade Environmental Science class also visited our STEM class on Earth Day. The students taught the Kindergarten class about pollinators, cleaning the ocean, making a picture with bubbles, and then they took a nature walk in the school garden.

Los centros de jardinería incluían: preparación del suelo, plantación, esparcimiento de paja de pino; leer sobre plantas y animales del jardín; dibujar plantas o animales en el jardín de la escuela; y jugar un juego de emparejar partes de vegetales y plantas. 2nd grade students used VR goggles to explore in & around a garden pond to view the stages of a frog’s life cycle. They looked at captions, illustrations, & read text in non-fiction books about plant & animal life cycles. Students also completed a Peep Nest STEM challenge & built creatively with Duplo Legos.
