MCES Update

Friday, March 22nd, is the annual Teen Maze event at MCHS. This is a huge event planned and staffed by more than 100 local volunteers through many agencies to teach our 9th graders about the consequences of decisions they make.
We will have many First Responders with their vehicles and equipment on campus, including Law Enforcement, Fire, and Emergency Medical folks. If you see or hear these, please know that we are in good hands and there's learning taking place through scenarios.
We cannot express our appreciation enough to the people who put extraordinary effort into this annual event. Other communities often send representatives to observe and learn from Morgan County. They are always amazed at the number of people and dedication to detail that goes into this.
This community truly is a special place!

This morning, the fire alarm was triggered at MCES on 5th grade hall. Our staff and students followed the school fire drill procedures perfectly. They quickly and calmly evacuated all students to their designated areas safely away from the building.
It was determined that the smoke originated from the boysā restroom. However, due to the smoke, 5th grade students were relocated throughout the school for the remainder of the day.
After investigating, we have been able to determine that a student was involved in this incident. While confidential, the studentās behavior will be strongly addressed by both law enforcement and the school system.
We appreciate our staff, first responders, law enforcement and fire personnel for their continued dedication to keeping our schools safe.
