Madison, Georgia — Morgan County Charter Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Wesley Cooper as the next Principal of Morgan County Elementary School, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Cooper brings a strong record of instructional leadership, a deep commitment to student success, and extensive experience serving the Morgan County community.

Dr. Cooper currently serves as Assistant Principal at Morgan County Elementary School and as the district’s K–12 Math Specialist. During his time in Morgan County, he has played a key role in strengthening instructional practices, supporting teachers, and leading initiatives that have improved student outcomes across multiple schools.

A nationally recognized educator, Dr. Cooper was recently named the 2026 National Outstanding Assistant Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals, one of the highest honors for school leaders in the country. He has also received numerous state recognitions, including the 2025 Georgia Department of Education Mathematical Mindset Award, the Georgia Association for Gifted Children Leadership Award, and the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics Bill E. Bompart Award. Additionally, he was selected for the Kennesaw State University 40 Under 40 Class of 2026.

Dr. Cooper’s career in education spans a variety of roles, including teacher, instructional coach, district specialist, and school administrator. Prior to serving at Morgan County Elementary School, he was an Academic Coach and teacher at Morgan County Middle School, where he led initiatives related to MTSS implementation, instructional coaching, and school improvement planning.

He has also contributed to educational initiatives across the state through work with the Georgia Department of Education, including serving on the Gifted Advisory Council and helping develop project-based learning units and resources used by classrooms throughout Georgia.

Dr. Cooper holds a Doctor of Education and Specialist of Education in Secondary and Middle-Grades Mathematics from Kennesaw State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Augusta University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from University of Georgia.

Dr. Cooper shared his appreciation for the opportunity to lead the school. “I am grateful and excited to serve as the next Principal of Morgan County Elementary School. It is an honor to lead a school that means so much to our students, families, staff, and community. I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place as we continue helping every student learn, grow, and succeed.”
