Junior Information
If you have not started thinking about your plan for after graduation, I urge you to start now.
For those interested in joining the military, the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a multiple choice test that helps you identify which jobs (Military Occupational Specialities) would be best for you. This test is also beneficial for non-military option students to gain a better understanding on what kinds of occupations you could excel in. You do not have to join the military if you take this test, but you must take this test as part of the requirements to join the military. Check in with our AFJROTC Instructors for more information as to when the test will be given.
For those interested in the college route, it is time to start researching potential colleges and/or universities you may be interested in applying to during your senior year. In your research you will learn which schools require a test (SAT, ACT, or ACCUPLACER) as part of their admission requirements. Check out our College Planning and Scholarships page for more information.
For those interested in going straight into the workforce, many of our pathway classes can help guide you into figuring out what kind of job you may want. We also give the YouScience test which can give you data on your preferences and certain jobs your interests link with. The ASVAB can also be beneficial for a student looking to go into the workforce. Our Work Based Learning Coordinator, Mr. Merritt Ainslie, also often knows of job opportunities.
Junior Meetings with your Counselor will be available later in the school year. We will be able to discuss, on an individual basis, your plans (or how to start to plan) for after graduation. I look forward to working with all of you.
