Morgan Virtual Learning Options
We hope you are having a relaxing and safe summer. Based on community survey responses and Georgia Department of Education guidance, we are pleased to offer a 100% virtual learning environment for the 2020-21 school year in addition to our excellent face-to-face environments. Although we believe that in-person teaching and learning is best practice for most students, we understand that some families may prefer an online option for their children during this time of heightened health and safety concerns.

The "Morgan Virtual Description" flyer provides a brief overview of the K-5 and 6-12 options. Unless we have copious numbers of Morgan Virtual applicants, our intent is to support our K-5 virtual learners with staff from Edgenuity and our 6-12 learners with existing MCCSS staff.

If you plan for your child(ren) to attend school in person, you do not need to do anything at this time. Please submit an application at https://bit.ly/morganvirtual for Morgan Virtual only if you do not want your child(ren) to attend school in person. The application process will close July 15, 2020.

Educational Framework for the 2020-2021 School Year

Greetings,

As we approach the start of a new school year, we will continue to evaluate how to best meet the learning needs of all our students during these unprecedented times. After meeting with members of the System and School Governance Teams and our local Department of Public Health, we have developed the attached framework for the start of the coming school year. Educational Framework for the 2020-2021 School Year

In addition to this plan, the following calendar adjustments will be recommended to the Board of Education as part of this initiative. As you will note, the proposal will include adding system-wide digital learning days as part of the traditional school calendar as recommended by the Georgia Department of Education.

  • Extend pre-planning three days to allow for additional professional development for staff and to allow for a staggered Open-House at each school (specific details are forthcoming).
  • Start school on August 6th for students.
  • Implement System-Wide Digital Learning days on August 31st, September 28th, October 26th (changed from October 12th), and March 5th in order to build capacity within our teaching staff to prepare ongoing digital learning content.

Please keep in mind that this proposal is contingent on Board of Education approval and is subject to change based on new information. Additional information will be provided next week.

Best Regards,

Morgan County Charter School System
