The following guidelines were used to evaluate web sites that provided the most relevant content for new media specialists. Three basic areas of evaluation criteria were used to keep our form simple and easy to use. On a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being poor and 5 being exceptional, a web site had to have at least an overall score of 4.

Appropriate page format

Can find information easily

Text Only offered

No technical problems

Credibility:

Author or contact person listed

E-mail of author or contact person listed

Credentials of author stated

Sponsor of site listed with a link

Last update

Purpose of site

Intended audience

Appropriate copyright information


Content:

Title related to purpose

Meaningful and useful for purpose

Reliable and accurate information

Valid resource links

Content verifiable (citations)

Current Information

Lack of bias

Error free information
